In 2025, Kees Visser joined Roto Western Europe as Technical Sales Advisor, covering the South and Central Netherlands. We caught up with him for a conversation to find out a bit more about him, why he chose to join Roto and what he thinks of his experience so far.

Hi Kees, what has motivated you to join Roto?

First, I was looking for a new challenge, one that somewhat connected to my past working in a wholesaler and acting as an intermediary between manufacturers and the end user. Moving to represent one specific manufacturer seemed like an interesting proposition. After well over a decade in my last role it was time for something else.

Can you tell us something about your past career and experience?

My first job was at a local hardware store in Doeland. I worked there alongside my studies at the time. Ever since, I’ve basically always been working in the hardware world. I was with my last employer for 14 years and gained a great deal of knowledge.

What was your view of Roto before you started?

In the past I found Roto products a challenge because the portfolio is so wide-ranging, so I wanted to find out more and get my head around all of it. I always found hinges and locks quite interesting to work with, so to be working for a top manufacturer is great.

How has the reality compared to your expectations?

There’s even more to learn than I previously thought <laughs>.

What about Roto has most impressed you?

That the teams from so many different parts of the world where Roto is located can work so well together. I haven’t worked for an international company before so that is new for me.

How is your training going?

For now, in the beginning stages, I am mainly enjoying learning as much as possible. I have to thank Erik Klinker in particular for all of the knowledge he is passing on to me. Sometimes he has to tell me something a few times before it sinks in, so he is very patient.

With Erik I am getting to visit every existing customer, which has been very informative and a good experience. The next step will be a visit to the Roto Group head office and production site in Leinfelden, Germany.

Which products have stood out?

It’s all impressive, but Roto NX | C, the new concealed window hardware system and Patio Inowa are the two most important right now in the Netherlands market, so I have been concentrating on them and learning all of the benefits they provide.

What are you looking forward to over the next few months?

Getting out there and doing my first solo visits, helping make Roto bigger by gaining new customers. And this also means I will learn a lot more in the coming months. I have a great feeling from the team: everyone is giving their best, all helping each other. I can call any colleague at any time for assistance or advice if I need it.

Can you tell us a couple of things you most enjoy doing outside of work?

Absolutely. I play padel several times a week and have been playing basketball for 27 years. Most importantly, I have two children and a girlfriend who I enjoy spending time with. We love to travel and see a lot of the world!
