Why should it be on the radar of every buyer and technical manager? Roto More spoke to two managers of the Roto Aluvision team based in Velbert, Germany to find out.
Why concealed?
“Concealed hardware is now more than 50% of the market for aluminium windows”, says Jordi Nadal, Business Director Roto Aluvision. “Architects and planners are asking for this more and more. Visible hinges are increasingly seen as outdated”.
Easy cleaning
“Concealed hardware makes the window frames much easier to clean”, explains Uwe Jakob, International Key Account Manager. “You can slide a cleaning cloth easily without being obstructed by the hinge, and you don’t have the issue of dirt and dust building up on top of the hinges or in gaps around them”.
Further efficiencies
“With no visible hinge parts, there is no need for colour matching”, he continues. You don’t have to worry about holding different colours in stock, or getting delayed because some hinge parts got chipped or paint damaged. The only colour part you need to think about is the handle”.
Handle options
Roto AL Designo is compatible with both spindle and fork-drive variants. Locking, non-locking and push-button handles are all available. “We deliver full hardware sets including the handle”, Jordi explains. “We also offer special colours, with over 250 different finishes, so you can match handles to your customers’ projects”.
Push rods: a flexible system
The push rod system gives high flexibility because locking cams can be placed almost anywhere. “You can fit any type of cam, including our mushroom-headed security cams”, says Uwe. “This means EN Resistance Class 3 security is possible. We provide cropping and punching machines for preparing the push rods and jigs for positioning the strikers”.
TiltSafe: patented security option
Uwe points out another option to give a strong selling point: TiltSafe is a patented Roto design. With the addition of just three special parts, the hardware can provide tested burglar-resistant security when the window is tilted open. “The end user operates the handle as normal, and now have peace of mind when they leave windows tilted open to ventilate”.
Faster fabrication – pre-cut connecting rods
Roto supplies pre-cut connecting rods for customers who are making a large number of identical windows for a project. “You can do it directly from the Roto online ordering app”, explains Uwe. “We prepare and send the rods directly to you, pre-cut to length and with holes punched to your specification. This saves you processing time because your production team does not have to do any of this work; they just insert the rods straight into the windows. So we reduce complexity and eliminate the chances of errors”.
Clampable hinges – another fabricator benefit
Roto’s patented clampable technology makes for fast, accurate fitting of the hinge and stay arms. “It provides solid interlocking and positive clamping of the hinge side”, Uwe explains. “The production process is faster and less complex, because there is no need to drill holes”.
Turn restrictors – a strong selling point
Fabricators using Roto AL Designo can take advantage of a wide range of restrictor options. “More and more customers are asking for restrictors, and we believe we have the best options on the market”, says Uwe.
The Roto range includes lockable versions that allow access to keyholders for cleaning. The range of opening can be predefined. Other models include restrictors with a handle-controlled stop function and restrictors with a damped braking action for extra comfort.
Maximum size and load
Sash heights of 3000 mm are in the standard specification, so you can produce ceiling-height installations and meet the vast majority of architectural designs without needing a special technical approval.
Maximum sash loadings are 130 kg with standard specification, rising to 180 kg with the addition of a load transfer device.
