Mecona is a family business, long established in the Limburg area since 1965. The company makes windows and doors, plus verandas, roller shutters, gates, and sun shading, all in-house at its own production facility.

As a window and door specialist, Mecona produces both aluminium and PVC windows, using profiles from premium suppliers Van Beveren and Deceuninck.

When it comes to window and door hardware, Mecona chooses Roto for all of its requirements and has ever since the company first started making windows.

To find out more about this incredible 61 year partnership, we went to meet director Joël Awouters along with Rob Sleurs, who is responsible for aluminium production. After giving us a warm welcome and a very informative factory tour, they took part in the Roto More interview.

Joël and Rob, thank you for inviting us to Mecona. How would you describe the overall experience of working with Roto?

Joël: You are very welcome. We have always had a good and positive experience of working with Roto. The partnership is strong because it is based on trust. We know we can rely on Roto as a company and that the products meet our requirements.

What are the main reasons you choose Roto products for your projects?

Joël: Roto products give us confidence because we know they are made from high quality materials, for example German steel and not cheap imports. They provide a reliable life of service.

Rob: The Roto hardware is well-made, and also cleverly designed to give strong functionality. It means our windows have security, easy operation for users and other useful functions.

Joël: Roto keeps on developing its products over the years, and this innovation means we know we always have the best hardware on the market.

Which Roto products or solutions provide the most value to your business and why?

Rob: The invisible hinge solutions for PVC and aluminium windows. We can make a very wide range of sizes without visible hinges. This makes the window very attractive to the eye. Customers notice this and it really helps us to sell the window.

How satisfied are you with the performance of Roto products in daily use?

Rob: We would say we are very satisfied. The products do not let us down. They work reliably for years.

How does Roto compare with other suppliers?

Joël: We work only with Roto for our window and door hardware. We don’t need to look at another supplier because Roto has a very extensive product range.

Rob: For any hardware solution we need, we can find it in the Roto product range. If we are not sure what to use, we know we can get the expert advice straight from Roto.

Joël: Using one hardware supplier also has the advantage of making our production more simple. Many Roto systems also have common parts, so our stockholding is also streamlined.

How would you rate the support you receive from our sales, technical and customer support teams?

Joël: For us, really perfect. Roto customer support people have experience, they know the industry and our needs. The technical people are experts on the hardware, and they understand window production.

Rob: Our main contact from Roto Sales is Vittorio. We can always reach him when we need assistance. He provides excellent support and we have a great personal relationship with him.

What does a successful partnership with a supplier look like for you?

Joël: For us, a successful partnership has a positive connection between the people on both sides, plus a strong understanding of our needs as a manufacturer and seller of windows. There has to be a high level of trust and good communication. Of course the products need to be high quality too. Roto delivers all of this, so it really is the perfect combination.

In which areas could Roto better support your business growth?

Joël: We don’t have any areas where we would say, “Roto must improve” because the performance is already so strong. I would say that the technical support from Roto is one of the areas where they really make a difference, because this access to knowledge helps us to keep delivering high quality windows and doors.

What is your market like in terms of trends or customer demands? Does Roto help meet them?

Joël: Our market is very focused because we work exclusively in the Limburg area. Mecona is known here and most of our customers come from word of mouth recommendations.

Rob: Customers are looking for high quality windows and doors that will last a long time. They want to be able to see and feel this quality. Roto is part of this because the hardware is minimal, it looks good and it provides the maximum functions and reliability.
