Reversible hardware: UK customer Frameline’s view

A British fabricator in the North of England is using Roto hardware to make reversible windows, primarily for the local authority market in Scotland.

Frameline, based in Knowsley, Merseyside has been established for over 20 years. The fabricator and supplier of PVC and aluminum windows and doors uses Veka profiles and Smart aluminium systems.

The company has expanded its customer base into the Scottish local authority market, supplying reversible windows for use on high rise buildings. “This is not an area in which we had actively been involved until recently”, explains Gerry O’Brien, Operations Manager at Frameline. “Now we have fully committed, even expanding our transport fleet with additional 18.5 tonne trucks in order to supply the Scottish customers”.

All of the new business in Scotland has come from local authorities. The buildings for which the reversible windows are supplied are four floors tall or higher. “The main reason for reversible windows being specified is to allow them to be cleaned safely from inside the building”, says Gerry. “Obviously security is also a factor, especially on lower floors”.

“We wanted a hardware product that ticks all the boxes and will guarantee long-term reliability. A colleague from Roto gave us a very informative introduction to the Roto FRH UNI hardware. This makes it very easy for our stock supervisors to keep control of what we need, ensuring we maintain a suitable quantity of each module in stock to meet order levels”.
