Our Netherlands-based partner Van de Vin makes timber frames, doors and sliding systems for Dutch new-build and renovation projects. The company is known for its vinGarant® hardwood range and ClimateProof® frames, as well as tilt-and-turn and sliding door systems. Van de Vin has worked with Roto hardware systems for over 60 years.
Managing Director Wytze Van de Vin recently visited Roto’s head office in Leinfelden, Germany, where he got the chance to see the latest technology Roto is using in production and logistics, plus the Digital Innovation Lab, a dedicated R&D and training space where engineers and technicians explore technologies such as AI, smart manufacturing, and augmented reality tools.
After the visit, Wytze Van de Vin shared his impressions and what he looks for in a manufacturing partner.
Hello Wytze. How has business been developing for Van de Vin over the past 12 months?
Our focus has been on strengthening our organisation, improving processes and building a solid foundation for growth that we can sustain. For us, progress is not measured by volume alone, but also by reliability, quality and our ability to deliver consistently for our customers.
What are currently the biggest opportunities and challenges in your market?
The Dutch market offers opportunities in renovation, sustainability and higher-performing building components. At the same time, pressure on costs, skilled labour and project planning requires us to work more efficiently. Strong partnerships throughout the supply chain are essential to meeting these challenges.
How would you describe the partnership between Van de Vin and Roto?
I see our relationship as a long-term partnership built on trust, professionalism and a shared commitment to quality. We want to look beyond individual orders and work together on new ideas that will benefit both companies and, ultimately, our customers.
What are the main reasons you choose to work with Roto?
We value the combination of product quality, technical expertise and the potential for dependable long-term cooperation. Equally important is having a partner that understands our business and is prepared to think ahead with us.
How do you evaluate the service, technical support and commercial cooperation from Roto?
We see all these things as interconnected aspects of the partnership. Our aim is to keep improving responsiveness and practical problem-solving together, with clear points of contact. We focus on long-term value rather than short-term transactions.
Why is it important for you to visit the Leinfelden production facility?
A site visit is a valuable opportunity for us to understand the processes and people behind the products. For us, the most important perspective is how Roto’s manufacturing discipline, quality assurance and continuity of service result in greater reliability from us to our own customers.
What about the factory tour impressed you most?
The way Roto has such a strong connection between design engineering, production and quality control. This is where a supplier demonstrates how product performance can be delivered consistently at scale.
Has the visit changed your perception of Roto as a manufacturing partner?
The visit provides an opportunity to deepen our understanding of Roto as a manufacturing partner. More importantly, it creates a basis for an informed conversation about how our organisations can work more closely together in the future.
What was your impression of the Innovation Lab?
The Innovation Lab is particularly relevant because it is a setting for discussing future requirements rather than only today’s product range. I really value the opportunity to exchange perspectives on what we manufacturers and our end customers will need next.
I am most interested in innovations that combine ease of installation and dependable performance. These developments can create real value in our projects.
Did you see innovations from Roto that could fit future projects at Van de Vin?
Potentially, yes. Innovations are most relevant to our Dutch market when they address real needs: energy performance, durability, user convenience, efficient installation and maintainability. Local standards should also guide which concepts we develop further together.
What has most strengthened your confidence in Roto?
Our confidence grows because we see alignment between long-term ambition, technical expertise and a willingness to collaborate openly.
After everything you’ve seen, what are your three key takeaways from the visit?
First, the value of direct dialogue between our organisations. Second, the importance of connecting innovation to everyday manufacturing practice. Finally, the opportunity to build an even more strategic and forward-looking partnership.
