At BAU 2025, Roto debuted a new restrictor for aluminium windows and the only one of its kind on the market. If you are making aluminium windows that open inwards in a Turn-Only format, this is something you should know about.
The retaining turn-only restrictor is designed to give end users full control of ventilation without the need for any additional devices attached to the window.
You simply open the window as normal and move it to any position up to a maximum of 90 degrees of opening. The next step is to move the handle down into the locked position. The window sash is now held firmly in place.
“This is one of those hidden products that really enhances the function of a window”, says Subana Akhmedova of Roto Western Europe’s marketing team. “Sometimes in hot weather, people end up making their own ventilation solution for older turn windows, for example placing furniture to prevent the sash closing. This Roto restrictor avoids all this. It is something you can easily demonstrate in the showroom and which will impress potential customers right away”.
The restrictor can be used on door-height turn only units, for example balcony doors, where it can be used to hold the sash open for access without needing any additional devices to be fitted, including visible retaining elements.
The restrictor mechanism is designed to be foolproof and protects the hinge side from damage in the event of incorrect operation. As well as being suitable for installation on the production line, the device can be fitted easily to a pre-existing window.
“For the manufacturer, this item helps to enhance the perceived quality of your window”, says Subana. “End users will benefit from the ability to use natural ventilation safely and easily”.
