For more than four decades, Wako has been designing and manufacturing high-quality PVC and aluminium windows and doors from its base in Belgium. Throughout that time, the company has focused on delivering reliable products, excellent service and long-term relationships with its partners and customers.

One of those long-standing partnerships is with Roto. We caught up with Joachim Delchevalerie, Purchasing Manager at Wako, to discuss the relationship, the importance of trust and collaboration, and what he values most about working with Roto.

Hi Joachim, how would you describe your overall experience working with Roto?

Our partnership with Roto has developed over more than 40 years, which says a great deal about the trust and reliability between our companies. It is more than a traditional supplier-customer arrangement. We value the consistency, professionalism and commitment that Roto brings, which has helped us maintain high standards for our own customers.

If you had to summarise your collaboration with Roto in a few words, what would they be?

I would describe Roto as a true partner. There is a strong sense of cooperation and mutual understanding between our organisations. We work together to solve challenges, look for opportunities and continuously improve, which is exactly what you want from a business relationship over a long term.

What makes the partnership between Wako and Roto successful?

Regular communication is very important in this. Roto’s team visits us regularly and we hold quarterly review meetings to discuss performance, evaluate what is working well and identify areas where we can improve together. These conversations help ensure that both companies remain aligned and focused on delivering the best possible results.

Do you see Roto as a strategic partner?

Absolutely. We feel that Roto understands our business and our objectives. The relationship is built on honesty, trust and a willingness to work together. That level of engagement makes Roto much more than a supplier of hardware products.

How well does Roto’s product range meet your requirements?

The product portfolio consistently meets our needs in terms of quality, reliability and performance. The products support the high standards that Wako sets for its own customers and they give us the confidence we need in day-to-day production.

Which Roto innovations have impressed you most recently?

We are very pleased with the Roto Solid C7.140 concealed hinges for aluminum doors. Combined with a concealed opening panel, they allow us to offer a truly elegant aluminum door. The recent improvements to the concealed hardware in tilt-and-turn window systems have led to significant enhancements. These products meet market demand for minimalist designs while maintaining the performance levels we expect.

How important is logistics performance to your business?

It is extremely important. At Wako, meeting the delivery deadlines promised to our customers is a priority. To fulfill our commitments to our customers, we need reliable deliveries from our suppliers. The availability and reliability of Roto products help us maintain the level of service our customers expect.

Does Roto provide Wako with a competitive advantage?

Yes, but not only through the products themselves. The service, support and personal contact are also very important. Having responsive people who understand our business adds significant value. At the top level we have a great relationship with Chris Cauwenberghs, and I would also like to thank the whole Roto team, especially Sandra and Lise who are dealing with enquiries every week and doing a great job.

How would you describe your experience with Roto’s support teams?

Our collaboration with the technical, sales and customer service teams has been excellent. The team is approachable and professional and they are always willing to listen. We feel our feedback is taken seriously and that there is a genuine desire to support our success.

What would you like to see from Roto in the future?

We would like Roto to continue anticipating market trends and offering us innovative and surprising solutions. We are particularly interested in new developments, especially solutions for aluminum thresholds that provide a perfect seal on two-leaf patio doors. We are also constantly striving to reduce our CO₂ footprint and minimize our environmental impact through more efficient packaging and transportation. These aspects will remain important as our partnership evolves.

Finally, what would you say about the future of the Wako-Roto partnership?

The future looks very positive. We have enjoyed a successful relationship with Roto for all these years, and we look forward to continuing that journey together.
